Our Services
Our one-stop service includes everything from initial discussions with you, to develop specifications for your web site, right through to managed hosting of the end result. You can choose which elements of our service to use, and which aspects of your web site management you want to handle yourself in-house.
We will source appropriate external hosting for your website, according to your needs and purposes. In addition to setting up your web site for you, we can also provide comprehensive content management facilities to allow you to manage your own site yourself. We are also happy to manage your site for you, maintaining and modifying content according to your needs and a pre-arranged service level agreement.
We categorise our development service into four basic components:-
Design
We will produce a range of design options for you to choose from. These may include your existing logo and colour scheme if you have one, or we will suggest some options for you. It is important to get the "look and feel" of the website right from the start, as users form judgements on the basis of this, and, once in place, it is costly to change later.
The design stage is also critical from the point of view of key areas such as accessibility, and search engine optimisation. Accessibility is now a legal requirement in the UK, and also important from a commercial perspective. Search engine optimisation (helping your site appear higher up the list in Google) is also one of our specialist areas.
Development
Following agreement on specifications, we will develop your website using the technologies agreed. For a simple information page this might be HTML. More likely it will involve a scripting language, and use a database to manage the site content and your product and service information.
Our technology of choice for this is Adobe Cold Fusion, in which we specialise. The development phase will optimise your site for search engine visibility, and user accessibility. Database systems we use include MySQL, SQL Server, and Access.
Hosting
We don't host sites ourselves, but arrange hosting for you with specialist hosting companies. These hosting services are properly managed and supported, and ensure maximum up time for your site. Costs for this vary, according to the scale and complexity of your web site. These costs are identified and agreed with you in advance. We set it all up for you, and you then pay the hosting company directly.
Management
All web sites require some degree of content management. We can supply you with a Content Management System especially for your website, allowing you to manage your own data remotely, and make updates yourself to frequently changing information. We put you in charge of your own site, with the hosting company. You have the option of handling future updates yourself, or of asking us to do that. If you prefer, we can manage the entire site for you and monitor traffic, providing you with statistics on site usage.
We can also take on part of the site management, if you are able to handle some aspects yourself. A manual will be provided for your Content Management System, and training sessions can be organised to provide you with hands-on instruction in how to use it, handled by experienced instructors.
